Beautification Efforts Continue Across the Neighborhood:

Riverside Drive

GBF was able to work directly with the city and Hemphill Construction to ensure that neighborhood priorities were addressed during the reconstruction of Riverside Drive. In particular, this included the connection of sidewalks from Peachtree to Riverside over the creek bridge, the replacement of 13 live oaks removed during construction, and the addition of landscaping in the half moon east entrance and at the Museum Drive intersection (to be installed when construction is completed). GBF also facilitated a cleanup day on May 10th where volunteers came out to weed-eat and mow the medians that had become overgrown.

Door Hangers

GBF’s Love Your Haven Beautification Committee designed and printed door hangers for all our residents with information on Neighborhood and City Resources. Members of the committee went door to door in February to pass these out to residents.

Spring Cleanup Day

On March 2, GBF hosted a Spring Cleanup Day. More than 90 volunteers provided their time, talent, and treasure in the effort to clean up our neighborhood! We filled two 30-foot dumpsters with trash and debris and uncovered a number of overgrown storm sewer drains and curbs. A huge thanks to our sponsors for their generous contributions to this event:

Debris Removal

The Greater Belhaven Foundation regularly communicates with the City of Jackson Solid Waste Division to request pickups of illegally dumped materials. GBF worked with the city on two sites below. See more information in the “Guide to Dispose Responsibly” from the City of Jackson Solid Waste Division on how to ensure your materials are picked up.

After the series of recent storms, we’ve begun to notice a number of debris piles across the neighborhood. Richard’s Garbage Disposal states that in order to have debris piles picked up, piles must be no more than 4 feet long, limbs no more than 4 inches thick, and bundled. If your debris piles don't meet these criteria, the city will not pick them up and you must either dispose of them yourself or pay a vendor to do so. The GBF offered a debris pick up service in order to mitigate the demand for debris pick up around the neighborhood. If you have a debris pile you’d like addressed, you can submit it for pick up. If you do request a pick up, please consider a donation to the GBF to offset the cost of this service.

Clean Curb Challenge

GBF’s Beautification Committee challenges you to join the Clean Curb Challenge! Cleaning leaves and debris from your curb does wonders for the aesthetics and appeal of our neighborhood, and helps storm sewers drain properly. Make sure to bag those leaves and debris and don't dump them into our delicate storm sewers!

Neighborhood Entrances Landscaped

Your CID dollars at work! GBF has had entrances at Greymont, Peachtree and Jefferson landscaped.
