What: Mississippi Humanities Council Community Read: a free four-week literary discussion series exploring the themes, questions, and challenges of celebrating Blues music in Mississippi through the lens of B. Brian Foster's I Don’t Like the Blues: Race, Place and the Backbeat of Black Life.
When: September 2, 9, 16, and 23 (all Wednesdays), followed by a visit to Blue Monday, presented by the Central Mississippi Blues Society, on October 5. Foster himself will join the discussion on Sept 2.
Where: All four September meetings will take place in the Christian Center. Rides will be available to Hal & Mal's for Blue Monday.
Additional Details: Refreshments provided! All participants will receive a free copy of I Don't Like the Blues, courtesy of the Mississippi Humanities Council, as well as free admission to Blue Monday.
