Ecology and Origins of the Gecko Adhesive System

Gecko adhesive toe pads are an exciting example of biological nanotechnology.

Using a combination of live and museum specimens, lab and field data, and high-resolution imaging techniques, we will investigate patterns of trait development, biomechanics, and ecological morphology.

Bio: Travis J. Hagey

Dr. Hagey is an Associate Professor of Biology at Mississippi University for Women (since 2018). He completed my undergraduate biology degree at Western Washington University, PhD in Evolutionary Biology at University of Idaho, and a postdoc at Michigan State University in Science Communication.
