The Belhaven business community is critical to the infrastructure of our neighborhood. This year we are excited to launch our Belhaven Business Coalition (BBC), an initiative focused on you and your needs as business owners and operators within the Greater Belhaven Foundation footprint. The focus of this initiative is building on the work of GBF board member John Scarbrough and the High Street Business District by organizing business owners in an effort to liaison collective struggles and concerns to advocates and lawmakers. The Greater Belhaven Foundation (GBF) wants to support you and work to make conditions in our neighborhood the best they can be in order to recruit, retain, and support businesses. What have we done? 
The BBC has accomplished a lot since organizing. Some things include:

Setting up our monthly Zoom call. 
Having the abandoned Shoneys lot on High Street cleaned.
Meeting with MDOT and other neighborhood leaders on addressing homelessness.
Advocated with legislative leaders for the passage of three House Bills, all three of which passed with the Governor's signature this session.

Established Belhaven Business contact database
Held Fortification Street Interest Meeting featuring multiple Belhaven business owners.
Met with City of Jackson's 1% Commissioners to discuss street resurfacing for business-dense areas.
