First Presbyterian Day School is an independent, Christian, elementary school that serves approximately 650 students in grades kindergarten through sixth. With a mission that began in 1965 and continues today, FPDS strives to plant seeds of Christlikeness in the hearts of children; pursue excellence in academics; and prepare students for future service in God’s kingdom in their homes, churches, and professions.
FPDS is held in high-standing in the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools and the Southern Association of Independent Schools. In 2013, Head of School Gary Herring was awarded the Joe F. Shepard Memorial Award from the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools, an annual award recognizing “outstanding school administrators.”
(School begins at 8 a.m., with a kindergarten dismissal at 12:15 and first through sixth grade dismissal at 2:45 p.m. We ask that students not be checked out between 2:15 – 2:45 p.m. without prior permission from administration.)
