Pearl River Clean Sweep

On September 15 and 22nd, cleanup teams will be deployed along the Pearl River from its Headwaters in Nanih Waiya, Mississippi, downriver through the Ross Barnett Reservoir, along the border of Mississippi and Louisiana, all the way to Pearlington on the Gulf Coast. Tributaries such as the Bogue Chitto River and the Strong River will also have cleanup locations. Volunteers of all ages can choose from over 30 land and water-based locations. This event will celebrate drinkable, swimmable, fishable water in 15 Mississippi counties, 2 Louisiana parishes, and over 490 miles of beautiful river!
In 2017, this event engaged more than 1,000 volunteers and removed over 34,000 pounds of trash from the Pearl River watershed.
