The Friends of Laurel Street Park Committee and the Belhaven Garden Club are busy planning Art for the Park, the biannual fundraiser for Laurel Street Park. Funds raised from previous events have been used for maintenance and repairs, mulch, new bench swings, additional pieces of playground equipment, and, most recently, for renovations to the front of the park and the park entrance. This year's event will raise funds for the beautification and upkeep of the park.

Art for the Park will take place on Thursday, April 20, 2017, from 6:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m at the Fairview Inn. The event will feature a silent art auction, live music, hors d’oeuvres, wine and beer, as well as a cash bar. Tickets are $40 per person and may be purchased at the event.

If you would like to be an Art for the Park Patron Sponsor ($200 donation) or Co-Sponsor ($500 donation), please contact Lora Bingham at 662.418.3916 or Mandy Ferrington at 601.622.3551. Sponsors will be recognized on the event invitation, on signage at the event and in the Greater Belhaven Foundation e-newsletter. Patron sponsors will receive two complimentary tickets to the event and co-sponsors will receive four complimentary tickets.

To donate art for the silent auction, please contact Casey Creasey at 601.503.5762 or caseyamborn@hotmail.com. Art items may include but are not limited to paintings, photography, pottery and jewelry. All items donated are tax deductible through the Greater Belhaven Foundation. Thank you for your support of our neighborhood playground. .

Laurel Street Park has previously been named "Best Playground" in the Jackson Free Press Best of Jackson poll. Help keep it "the best" by supporting Art for the Park!

History of Friends of Laurel Street Park

In 2001, a grassroots group of Greater Belhaven parents and friends rallied together to raise over $40,000 for substantial imrovements to Laurel Street Park.  In 2003, Friends of Laurel Street Park was formed to sustain this momentum and devise and implement short-and long-term goals for the park.  Through the years, Friends has purchased and maintained equipment, landscaped and made other aesthetic improvements, and installed drainage and irrigation systems.
